Support for the
long haul.

A private counseling practice rooted in the belief that wellness isn't found in the absence of struggle — it is what emerges from meeting it honestly. Serving adolescents, adults, couples, and families — all with the goal of building the strength and endurance necessary for healthy formation.

Core Pillars
Strength. Endurance. Formation. The foundations of learning to live life, well.
The Philosophy

Three pillars.
One practice.

01

Strength

Not the absence of struggle, but the learned art of holding your ground within it. The albatross does not fight the storm — it finds the current that carries it through.

02

Endurance

Unhurried. Unanxious. Grounded in the belief that healing moves at its own pace — and that steady, intentional progress is more powerful than urgency.

03

Formation

You are not broken. You don't need to be fixed. Formation is the work of therapy — slow, deliberate pursuit of who you want to become. One day at a time.

"The albatross flies farther than any other bird — not by chance, but by strength built through enduring storms with intention and purpose. This is the work that equips us not to live better lives, but to live our lives, better, whatever storms we may face."

The Approach

Grounded in
evidence.
Alive in experience.

Therapy that moves — inside and out.

The work at Albatross Counseling draws from modalities that honor the full complexity of human experience. Each approach is chosen not as a rigid protocol, but as a language through which therapist and client can explore what matters most.

Sessions may take place in an office, over telehealth, or — when appropriate — in natural settings where the environment itself becomes part of the therapeutic process.

Existential Therapy Exploring meaning, freedom, mortality, and the conditions of an authentically lived life.
Acceptance & Commitment Building psychological flexibility — acting in alignment with values even amid difficulty.
Narrative Therapy Separating the person from the problem — and reauthoring the stories that shape identity.
Internal Family Systems Mapping the inner world of parts — restoring harmony and access to the Self.
Experiential

Nature & Outdoor Therapy

The natural world has always been a place of perspective and restoration. Nature-informed sessions move the therapeutic relationship out of four walls and into the environment — using walk-and-talk, outdoor reflection, and place-based practice to access what words alone sometimes cannot reach.

Experiential
In Development

Golf Therapy

Golf as a therapeutic modality — using the course, the walk, and the discipline of the game as a container for meaningful psychological work. Patience, failure, focus, and presence on the course mirror the interior work of therapy in uniquely powerful ways.

Format

In-Person & Telehealth

Both in-office and remote sessions are available. The right format depends on you — your circumstances, your comfort, and what best supports the work. Neither is a lesser option.

Family Systems

Family Therapy

Working with the family as a whole — its patterns, its roles, its history. Family systems work addresses the relational field around individuals, not just the individual alone. Healing happens in relationship.

Nature & Outdoor Sessions

For those who find movement or open space more accessible than a chair in an office. Nature-based sessions integrate the environment into the therapeutic process through walk-and-talk, outdoor reflection, and place-informed practice.
